Ladri di biciclette (Bicycle Thieves being the literal translation, released in the US as The Bicycle Thief). It is one of my favorite foreign films, but at the same time it makes me sad. A poor man has the opportunity to get a job, but only if he gets a bicycle. His wife pawns their bedsheets of all things to redeem his bike from the pawnbroker. The bike gets stolen.
And then it gets worse. Saying anything more will spoil the film.
