So I looked through my older stuff on my gallery and I forget how dinky I used to draw people's hands. They were always the same, itty bitty palms, long-spidery fingers. I only drew them standing in straight forward or a profile stance and my profiles in those days resembled snouts with off center mouths. I didn't realize the only reason people looked like the in anime was because the animators were too cheap the animate the lips. I used to see that and think that was cool, but now I realize how cheap the animation was. Evangelion was horrible about that. Bunch of people all talking out of their cheeks. Eyes that I thought were level at the time, turned out to be lopsided and I was guilty of overuse of the burn and dodge tools like whoa. My older stuff was worse when it came to that. I thought I was being nifty and cool, but then I realized I can get better. Actually, I can still do better... I suck at drawing feet. I know the rules of how everything is supposed to go, but sometimes the piece in my mind never seems to transfer to the one on paper. I also was lazy enough to scan old vacation photos, put a layer of white above it and turn down the opacity to create the world's cheapest attempt at a background. And there was my figure on a white background stage. And don't forget... it looked okay as a sketch, but there was teeny flaw that turned into a big flaw once I finished. I'm tempted to do a timeline, but everyone does that... so I can say I improved and I can improve some more... some of my coloring is still a little wonky. And my animals need work... I look at them and have no idea how they can even move or support their own body weight.
